Toni Boynton casts vote alongside sons on eve of election

Toni Boynton cast her vote today at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi, returning to the significant site where she previously earned her bachelor’s degree and first developed her passion for politics while majoring in policy.

Accompanied by her sons, Boynton explained her decision to vote on the eve of the election, stating, “I’ve brought my sons with me because they’re one of the key reasons why I have stood and why I stand for these roles, and one of the strongest reasons why I should vote.”

Boynton added that having them present provided her with essential support, noting, “I was trying to make sure that I had my boys with me so that I had that kaha because of the fact that they’re one of the key reasons for my drive and my passion to ensure that a better world is built for them and with them in mind.”

With only one day remaining before the election, Boynton reflected on the broader political climate and expressed her outlook for the nation.

“We only have one more day left. We have seen what is happening around the rest of the world, and let’s hope to see that Aotearoa will change the government and that we will have greater opportunities.”

Boynton envisioned a Sunday morning where voters can wake up with the heavy burden lifted from their minds.

Concluding her remarks, Boynton offered a comprehensive mihi to all Waiariki candidates, volunteers, kaimahi , and whānau who worked tirelessly on the campaign, emphasising that every contribution has mattered in driving toward Saturday’s outcome.
