Te Pāti Māori MP Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke has launched her new book, State of the Rohe, at the Tai Timu, Tai Pari Hauora Health Hub in Huntly.
The book’s subtitle, “The rohe that feeds, powers and builds the country, a blue print for how we can work together for a common goal,” reflects its core aim of uniting data across the Taiao, Tiriti, Tangata, and Tahua pou to establish the foundational necessities needed for Hauraki-Waikato communities to thrive.
Maipi-Clarke says the publication is designed to bridge political and community divides.
“I see this as a blueprint and a road map to work with different coalition partners, different political parties across the spectrum, councils, marae, iwi, hapū so that they know exactly the issues we face in Hauraki Waikato,” she says.
The publication highlights several key issues affecting the electorate, noting that it outlines 10 of the most important findings uncovered during research. Among these is a focus on economic disparities, pointing to data showing that Māori earn approximately $7,000 less on average than non-Māori.
